MADE FROM YOUR SHOES
At Odaje, we think about the life cycle of our products from A to Z so that we can make circularity a reality. From design to recycling.
We collect your end-of-life shoes in our shops, to produce our (re)colte soles, which will be used to make your next pair of “made from your shoes” trainers.
AN INNOVATIVE PROCESS
As the first circular fashion brand in the footwear market, we’re reinventing industry standards by offering a practical closed-loop production solution.
THE OBJECTIVE:
Our aim is to make recycling the norm, by producing soles via a closed loop manufacturing method and thereby reducing our carbon footprint as much as possible.
Today, our (re)colte soles made from your old shoes emit 38% less CO2 than conventional soles. *
There are 3 crucial steps to making such a sole:
STEP 1:
STEP 2:
STEP 3:
COLLECTION & SORTING
Our shops are at the heart of our recycling programme. You’ll find our collection points in each one. You can drop off your end-of-life shoes here, whatever the brand.
Shoes that are still usable are donated to Restos du cœur to give them a new life.
The rest go to our workshop in Portugal.
RECYCLING
In Portugal, at our partner factory, your worn out shoes are industrially shredded into fine particles.
After they’ve been heated to a high temperature and then compressed, natural and recycled rubber is added to create an innovative raw material
PRODUCTION
It’s from this raw material that we make our (re)colte soles. A unique sole produced from your shoes and directly integrated into the manufacture of our trainers on site.
Thanks to this process, (re)colte emits 38% less CO2 than a conventional sole.
JOIN THE CIRCLE
It’s thanks to you and your commitment by our side that we can bring our mission to life: to create sustainable fashion that is positive for the planet and its people.
Since 2019, we’ve collected more than 21,000 pairs of worn out shoes in our shops. That’s a lot of shoes that won’t be incinerated, sent to landfill or dumped in the environment.
And if you have not taken the plunge yet and want to give a second life to your used shoes, find the list of our right shops here.
Our collection points are there to welcome them, whatever their condition.
Today, circularity is one of the pillars of our eco-responsible commitments. As a pioneering brand in the sector, we wanted our logo to reflect this, so that everyone could wear our O with pride, the symbol of our values.
