From the choice of materials to the process of recycling our shoes, the life cycle of each product is designed from A to Z with a view to minimising its carbon impact. By incorporating innovative materials and processes into our unique designs, we are reinventing industry standards by offering closed-loop production. Together, hand in hand with our suppliers, our workshops and our partners, we create designs that embody
B CORP
Already a mission-driven company, Odaje obtained the B Corp certification in 2024 with a score of 87.4. A figure higher than the industry average, which is currently 81. A demanding label that recognizes our daily commitment and our ability to build the fashion of tomorrow by putting CSR at the heart of our development.
WE MAKE CIRCULARITY A REALITY
Pioneers of a global circular economic model on the shoe market, we put recycling at the heart of our creation and production process via our program Made from your shoes. We collect the pairs at the end of life in our shops to make the soles of the models of tomorrow.
We work with Fairly Made, an independent organisation that helps us quantify the true impact of our products, to identify ever more innovative ways of reducing our carbon footprint as much as possible.
“Today, a M.Moustache women’s trainer emits an average of 10.8 kg de CO2 as opposed to 32.17 kg for a conventional trainer, i.e. 66% less.”
B Corp certification is above all a milestone that recognises the work and commitment of all our teams over the last 12 years to sustainable fashion.
OUR MATERIALS
We take particular care when choosing our materials, which are the main source of carbon impact in footwear production. Today, the selection of our raw materials is based on 3 fundamental principles:
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
GUARANTEE QUALITY
COMBINE RESPONSIBILITY AND SUSTAINABILITY
REDUCE TRANSPORT
A RESPONSIBLE CHOICE
The demand for eco-responsible, sustainable, and innovative raw materials accompanies the creation of each pair.
Vegan suedes, recycled mesh
CONSISTENT SOURCING
To reduce transport, we source our materials as close as possible to our production plants. For several years, we have been working with Portuguese, Italian and Spanish suppliers renowned for the quality of their leathers, which are used in all our formal shoes.
100%
of the leather used in our formal shoes comes from tanneries in Italy, Portugal and Spain, located as closely as possible to our manufacturing plants
74%
of our trainers are made in Portugal, with the majority of their raw materials coming from the same country.
26%
of our trainer collection is made in China using local raw materials.
ODAJE IS MORE THAN JUST A BRAND
IT'S A MOVEMENT TOWARDS MORE RESPONSIBLE FASHION
KNOW-HOW
All our formal shoes are made in Europe, in different countries depending on the specific features of each item and local know-how.
In Portugal, a country renowned for its shoe-making expertise, we work with two workshops in the Porto area. We entrust them with the production and assembly of sandals, ankle boots, Derbies and loafers, ensuring precise finishes and meticulous workmanship – indispensable qualities in a formal shoe that will last.
For our espadrilles, we chose a specialist factory in Spain, where the rope soles are sewn by hand for authentic craftsmanship.
Our flat and high-heeled sandals are made in a family-run workshop near Florence. This region of Italy is renowned for its age-old expertise in traditional shoemaking, and particularly for its summer footwear.
We also have a partner factory in Porto that handles recycling the worn out shoes collected in our shops to make (re)colte soles. And it’s with this innovative sole that the vast majority of our trainers are made, in the very same factory in Portugal. Recycling and production are in the same place, in a closed loop.

WHY WE CHOSE ASIA
Today, 26% of our trainers are made in China. This choice is all about know-how. Asia is a pioneering region when it comes running shoes, in particular for EVA soles, an ultra-light, flexible polymer that Europe has yet to fully get to grips with. We are also able to source eco-responsible materials in China that are more advanced than those currently available in Europe: vegan ultrasuede, recycled meshes and rubbers. Transport is exclusively by boat and train.
To meet our exacting standards, we have therefore entrusted the manufacture of some of our models to expert workshops in Asia. This means we are able to combine technology, quality, durability and eco-responsibility, thanks to our raw materials and to partner factories that have mastered the technical aspects of the product.
